Ina-Yoko Teutenberg (born October 28, 1974 in Düsseldorf ) is a former German racing cyclist and today's sports director . She was one of the most successful German cyclists from the 1990s and 2000s to the 2010s.
Athletic career
Teutenberg comes from a cycling family and started playing at the age of six. Her older brothers Lars and Sven were also racing cyclists, her niece is the daughter of brother Lars, Lea Lin Teutenberg . Her qualities were mainly in the sprint and short time trials, like prologues . In the course of her career, she achieved over 200 victories.
In 1990 Ina-Yoko Teutenber was double junior world champion in Middlesbrough, Britain , in road races and in points on the track . In 2009 and 2011 she was German road racing champion.
In 1996 Teutenberg won the International Women's Tour of Thuringia . In addition, she won several races in the women's cycling world cup and numerous stages in important cycling tours, such as the Tour de l'Aude and the Grande Boucle Féminine . Among other things, she won the Liberty Classic in Philadelphia five times , four stages of the Tour of Chongming Island , 13 stages of the Giro d'Italia Femminile and 14 stages of the Holland Ladies Tour .
In 2000 she took part in the Summer Olympics in Sydney and started in the street race, which she could not finish. In 2006 she finished second in the overall ranking of the Women's Cycling World Cup , and in 2007 she finished third. At the 2011 UCI Road World Championships in Copenhagen , she won the bronze medal in road racing and finished fourth at the 2012 Summer Olympics .
In the spring of 2013 Ina-Yoko Teutenberg suffered a severe concussion in a fall during the Dutch one-day race Drentse 8 and was out for the entire season. She ended her cycling career at the end of the season.
Professional
After the end of her active sports career, Ina-Yoko Teutenberg worked for the US Association USA Cycling and for the Rally Cycling team . In 2018 she became the sports director of the newly created women's team Trek-Segafredo .
