Sven Teutenberg (born August 18, 1972 in Düsseldorf ) is a former German racing cyclist .

Athletic career

In 1993 Sven Teutenberg won the Fresca Classic and the International Cycling Classic in the USA as well as the Circuit Franco-Belge . At the Rutas de América 1996 in Uruguay , he decided two stages and the overall standings for himself, in 1997 the race around Düren . In 2000 he won a half stage of the Bayern Tour and in 2001 three stages of the Vuelta Ciclista de Chile .

Sven Teutenberg began his professional career in 1994 with the Word Perfect team. The sprinting racing driver was team-mate of both Lance Armstrong and Jan Ullrich . Teutenberg took part in the 2001 Tour de France (81st place), in 2002 he drove the Giro d'Italia , but retired. He contested the Vuelta a España five times; the best placement he achieved in 1997 as 111th overall.

After Teutenberg had driven for the amateur team La Bici for two years , the Professional Continental Team Volksbank was able to secure its services for 2006. In May 2006, three months before the start of the Germany Tour , he drove the 1400-kilometer course of the tour in an official route test.

Professional

Sven Teutenberg runs the La Bici bicycle shop in Düsseldorf. He was a driving force in the successful project to bring the Grand Depart , the festive start of the Tour de France 2017 to Düsseldorf, and became a member of the organizing committee as event manager.

family

Sven Teutenberg's brother Lars Teutenberg and his sister Ina-Yoko Teutenberg are / were also active as cyclists. His niece Lea Lin , daughter of Lars Teutenberg, became the German junior champion in the team pursuit in 2016.
