Beate Habetz

Beate Habetz married Beate Stauff (* 1961 in Brauweiler , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German former cyclist . In 1978 she won the world championship in road racing .

Athletic career

In 1976 Habetz became German champion in track cycling in Munich. On August 23, 1978 she won the cycling world championship in Brauweiler near Cologne. She was initially trained by her father while she was a member of Comet Delia Cologne. From about 1978/79 she was trained by Dieter Koslar at PSV Cologne (Police Sports Club ). In 1979 she finished third at the World Cup. By 1984 she won the German championship six times. When she was not considered for the Olympic Games in 1984 , she ended her active career.

family

Heinrich Habetz, Beate Habetz's father, was an avid cyclist. Of his children, Beate, Gabi and Hans-Jürgen were particularly enthusiastic about cycling, Beate was already five years old. Beates sister Gabi also won the German road race championship once.

She later married the multiple German road cycling champion Werner Stauff . They have two children, including Andreas , who are also racing cyclists. Beate Habetz has lived in Cologne-Bickendorf since 1989 and ran a bicycle shop on Vogelsanger Strasse in Cologne for several years.
