Katrin Meinke (born September 19, 1979 in Wismar ) is a former German cyclist. She was one of the dominant German track cyclists until the mid-2000s.
Athletic career
Until 1995 Katrin Meinke trained at SG Werder Dabel. In 1996 she began her international career with a runner-up world title at the Junior Track World Championships in Novo mesto .
In the following year she was Junior World Champion in the sprint in Cape Town in 1997 and in the same year came second in the European Track Championships (youngsters) in the sprint and in the 500-meter time trial .
In 2001 and 2002 , Katrin Meinke was third in each of the UCI track world championships in sprint and time trial. In addition, she was able to win five national titles and podium places in World Cup races ; In 2004 she won the team sprint twice , in Manchester (with Susan Panzer ) and in Sydney (with Kathrin Freitag ).
2004 Summer Olympics
At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , she was the only German track cyclist to start and competed in three disciplines; her best placement was sixth in the sprint.
In 2006, Katrin Meinke, who started for the RSC Cottbus , ended her career at the “Grand Prix of Germany” in Cottbus .
After finishing her cycling career, Meinke went into the police force.
