Annett Neumann (born January 31, 1970 in Lauchhammer ) is a former German track cyclist who competed for SC Cottbus .

Career

In 1989 and 1990 Annett Neumann became the GDR Winterbahn champion in the sprint , and in 1989 she was also GDR champion in the 500 meter time trial . At the UCI track world championships in 1991 in Stuttgart , she won the silver medal in the sprint, in 1996 she was second in the world championship in the sprint and time trial. At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona , she won a silver medal in the sprint.

In 1990 she also won the prestigious sprint classic Grand Prix de Paris , in which she had finished second the year before. Neumann won the last two sprint Grand Prix of the GDR (1989 and 1990). In 1997 Annett Neumann retired from active cycling as the most successful German sprinter up to that point.

Annett Neumann was married to her coach and today's national coach Detlef Uibel (* 1959); The now divorced marriage has a daughter.

Awards

  • On June 23, 1993 she was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf.
