Petra de Bruin (born February 22, 1962 in Nieuwkoop ) is a former Dutch cyclist .

In 1979 Petra de Bruin became world champion in road racing in Valkenburg aan de Geul .

De Bruin was also a successful track cyclist : in 1987 and 1989 de Bruin became Dutch champion in the singles pursuit and in 1988 in the Omnium . In the year of her victory at the World Championships, she was voted Sportswoman of the Year in the Netherlands .

In December 2016, de Bruin reported to the Dutch news portal NOS.nl about sexual abuse during her career. A manager had abused her for over ten years, but denied the allegations in an arbitration meeting with the Dutch cycling association Koninklijke Nederlandsche Wielren Unie (KNWU). Mechanics, soigneurs and employees of the association also sexually harassed them or demanded sexual favors.
