Marta Bastianelli (born April 30, 1987 in Velletri , Latium ) is an Italian cyclist .

Athletic career

The greatest success of her career was winning the road race at the road cycling world championships in Stuttgart in 2007 , after she had already become vice world champion in the road race of the junior women at the road cycling world championships in Verona in 2004 .

Bastianelli was able to celebrate some successes again, especially from 2015, including stage wins at the Giro della Toscana Femminile and the Trophée d'Or Féminin . In 2016 she also became the two-time Italian champion on the track : in the team pursuit with Tatiana Guderzo , Elena Cecchini and Simona Frapporti and in the team sprint with Frapporti.

In 2017 and 2018 Marta Bastianelli was successful with several victories on the road: In 2017 she won a stage at Emakumeen Bira and at the Giro d'Italia Femminile , including the one-day races Gran Premio della Liberazione Pink and Gran Premio Beghelli Donne . 2018 was her most successful year since 2008, in which she won a stage of the Setmana Ciclista Valenciana , the BeNe Ladies Tour as well as the Giro della Toscana Femminile and Gent-Wevelgem . In the same year she became European champion in road racing.

The following year, 2019, Bastianelli was able to continue her series of successes: She won the Omloop van het Hageland , the Ronde van Drenthe , the Tour of Flanders , the Open de Suède Vårgårda and the Gran Premio Beghelli Donne , among others . In the Gracia Orlová race , she won the overall standings, points and mountains, and two stages. In addition, she was Italian road champion. In spring 2020 she won the Tour of Valencia .

Bastianelli was tested positive for fenfluramine , a component of diet products, in a doping test on July 5, 2008 as part of the U23 European Championship in Verbania and was banned for two years until August 2010.
