The UEC Road European Championships 2018 ( 2018 UEC Road European Championships ) took place from 5th to 9th August 2018 in Glasgow, UK, for the elite class. The road competitions for the juniors and the U23 drivers were held from July 12th to 15th in Brno, Czech Republic, and in Zlín . After 1995 ( Trutnov ) and 2013 ( Olomouc ) , the Czech Republic hosted the European Road Championships for the third time.

A total of twelve titles in the elite, junior and U23 categories were awarded to men and women at both championships. The elite European championships on the road as well as the European rail championships were held as part of the first ever multi-sport event, the European Championships , which was organized simultaneously in Glasgow and Berlin .

734 athletes from 42 countries registered their participation in the European Road Championships for Juniors / U23, in order to find eight titles among themselves. The individual time trials were held in Brno, the road races in Zlín.

Marta Bastianelli was the European champion in the sprint of the front field ahead of Marianne Vos and Lisa Brennauer , who had won the single pursuit title at the European Railway Championships a few days earlier . Before that, a late attack by Anna van der Breggen and Elisa Longo Borghini was ended on the final kilometer.

There were 107 riders at the start, of which 73 made it to the finish. The race ended prematurely. a. Kathrin Schweinberger from Austria; Charlotte Becker and Mieke Kröger from Germany.

European champion in the sprint of a six-man lead group was Matteo Trentin ahead of reigning Cyclocross europameister Mathieu van der Poel and reigning cyclo-cross world champion Wout Van Aert . The original group of ten riders formed about 50 kilometers from the finish after an attack by Nico Denz , but fell apart nine kilometers later after a fall. There were 136 drivers at the start, 51 of which reached the finish. The reigning road world champion Peter Sagan was one of the retired drivers .

The Germans Roger Kluge and Marcel Meisen as well as the Swiss Fabian Lienhard and Dylan Page also had to give up .
