Elisa Longo Borghini (born December 10, 1991 in Ornavasso ) is an Italian racing cyclist .
Athletic career
In 2006 Elisa Longo Borghini was third in the Italian youth road championship. In 2011 she turned professional . In the same year she finished sixth in the road race and eighth in the individual time trial at the European road championships in the U23 class . In 2012 she was seventh in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad , fifth in the Tour de Free State and ninth in the overall ranking of the Giro d'Italia Femminile . At the International Tour of Thuringia , she won the fifth stage and finished fifth in the overall ranking. At the Italian road championship she was runner-up and at the European championship (U23) third, each in the individual time trial.
At the UCI Road World Championships 2012 in Valkenburg aan de Geul , Elisa Longo Borghini came third in the women's road race. In 2013 she won the race for the Trofeo Alfredo Binda . In 2014 and 2016 she became Italian champion in the individual time trial, in 2014 she also won the Tour de Bretagne Féminin and the Trophée d'Or Féminin , in 2015 the Tour of Flanders , the Route de France Féminine and the Giro dell'Emilia . At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , she won bronze in the road race. In 2017 she won the Strade Bianche race and became Italian double champion in road races and individual time trials.
In 2018, Borghini won the women's tour mountain classification and the road race at the Mediterranean Games . In the following year he won the Basque race Emakumeen Bira and won bronze with the Italian national team in the mixed relay of the European road championships . With her Trek-Segafredo team , she won the team time trial at the Open de Suède Vårgårda .

She is a younger sister of the cyclist Paolo Longo Borghini . Her mother is the former cross-country skier Guidina Dal Sasso .
