Fabiana Luperini
Fabiana Luperini (born January 14, 1974 in Pontedera ) is an Italian racing cyclist .
She has been active in cycling since 1981. At a young age, she achieved more than 200 victories in her respective age groups. In 1988 she finished third at the World Road Championships . She won the Giro d'Italia Femminile five times and thus holds the record of victories, and she also won the Grande Boucle Féminine three times. She achieved many victories in World Cup races, such as the Trofeo Alfredo Binda in 2000 and the Flèche Wallonne in 1998, 2001 and 2002 . She was Italian road champion four times.
Because of her numerous successes, Luperini is called "Pantanina" (referring to Marco Pantani ) by Italian fans .
