Imelda Chiappa
Imelda Chiappa (born May 10, 1966 in Sotto il Monte Giovanni XXIII , Bergamo ) is a former Italian cyclist .
Imelda Chiappa was active in international cycling from 1985 to 1998. She was Italian champion in road races three times (1993 and 1997) and in the individual time trial in 1995. In 1993 and 1996 she was third in the Giro d'Italia Femminile . In 1997 she won the overall ranking of the Giro della Toscana .
Imelda Chiappa took part in the Olympic Games twice, in 1988 and 1996 in Atlanta. In 1996 Imelda Chiappa won the silver medal in the road race; the gold medal went to the French Jeannie Longo-Ciprelli . Chiappa was the first Italian female cyclist to win a medal at the Olympic Games.
