The 34th European Swimming Championships took place from 3rd to 12th August 2018 in the Scottish city ​​of Glasgow ( United Kingdom ). This was decided by the European Swimming Federation (LEN) on July 22, 2014 at a board meeting in Berlin . This is the first time that Scotland has hosted the European Swimming Championships .

The swimming competitions were held as part of the European Championships 2018 from August 1 to 12, 2018, parallel to the competitions in cycling, rowing, triathlon, golf and gymnastics (Glasgow) and athletics (Berlin).

Venues

The 2018 European Swimming Championships took place in four locations in Glasgow .

  • Tollcross International Swimming Center (pool swimming)
  • Royal Commonwealth Pool (diving)
  • Scotstoun Sports Campus (synchronized swimming)
  • Loch Lomond (open water swimming)

The pool swimming competitions took place in the Tollcross International Swimming Center, built in 1997, which was renovated and rebuilt in 2013 for the 2014 Commonwealth Games . The diving competitions were held in the Royal Commonwealth Pool, which was built in 1970 and also completely renovated for the Commonwealth Games from 2009 to 2012. The synchronized swimming competitions were held at the Scotstoun Sports Campus. For this purpose, a temporary swimming pool was built in the tennis hall of the campus. The open water swimmers wore their competitions in Loch Lomond, a lake about 30 km northwest of Glasgow.
