Johannes Dietrich (born February 10, 1985 in Berlin ) is a German swimmer who has specialized in the short butterfly distance and was particularly successful on the short course.

Career

Dietrich's first major international success was winning the bronze medal in the 50 meter butterfly at the 2007 European Short Course Championships in Debrecen .

Almost a year later, at the German Short Course Championships in 2008 in Essen , he won the championship title over 50 meters butterfly with a new European record time.

Half a year later, at the 2008 World Short Course Championships in Manchester , he finished sixth in the final over 50 meters butterfly in 23.05 seconds.

At the 2009 World Swimming Championships in Rome , Dietrich finished 19th with a time of 23.55 seconds. Only a few months later, at the 2009 European Short Course in Istanbul , he competed in his most successful international competitions to date, winning the European championship over 50 meters butterfly and being runner-up -European champion title with the 4 × 50 meter tier relay. He also took 17th place over 100 meters butterfly.
