German short course championships 2008
The German Short Course Championships 2008 in swimming took place from November 27th to 30th, 2008 in Essen main pool and were organized by the SG Essen . The organizer was the German Swimming Association . The competition also served as a qualifying competition for the 2008 European Short Course in Rijeka . There were competitions for men and women in 20 disciplines each, including two relay competitions. Four new European records and fifteen new German records were set during the championships .

Margin notes
Yannick Lebherz ( DSW 1912 Darmstadt ) swam a new German record in the 400 m medley final in 04: 09.05 minutes . Lebherz was not first in the race, however, as Łukasz Wójt ( SG Frankfurt ) only needed 4: 06.56 minutes for the 400 m individual medley. The Pole does not have a German passport.
Marco Koch (DSW 1912 Darmstadt) already swam new German records in the heats over the 100 m chest and 200 m chest in 0: 58.50 minutes and 2: 08.13 minutes respectively . He was even able to improve the German record over 200 m breaststroke to 02: 06.57 minutes in the final.
Johannes Dietrich ( SC Wiesbaden 1911 ) swam a new European record in 0: 22.64 minutes in the 50 m butterfly , which he was able to beat again by 2 hundredths of a second in the final.
