During her youth, Bertrand was considered a great talent and won several championship titles in student categories. From January 2000 she competed in FIS races , her first appearances in the European Cup followed a year later. In April 2002 she took part in the Swiss Championships in Arosa and caused a surprise when she won the giant slalom, leaving experienced athletes like Sonja Nef and Corinne Rey-Bellet behind. From November 2002, she also took part in some races in the Nor-Am Cup .
In December 2002, Bertrand took part in a World Cup race for the first time, a giant slalom in Val-d'Isère . Due to injuries, she was unable to compete in races in 2003 and subsequently lost contact with the top. It was not until the 2004/05 season that she was used regularly in the World Cup, initially without any countable results. On December 25, 2006, she won her first World Cup points, finishing 27th in the giant slalom in Aspen . After that, she was able to establish herself with several top 20 placements. She again achieved her best result so far in Aspen, on November 29, 2008 with eighth place in the giant slalom. To date this is her only top 10 placement in the World Cup; Top 20 placings were also the exception from the 2009/10 season until, towards the end of the 2011/12 season , she was among the fastest 20 again in several World Cup races and, among other things, was twelfth in both of Ofterschwang's two giant slaloms . In 2012 she also won her first French championship title in the Super-G .
Marion Bertrand has so far participated in two world championships. In the giant slalom she finished 16th in Åre in 2007 and 17th in Val-d'Isère in 2009 . In 2009 she also started in the slalom, but was disqualified in the second round. Bertrand has trained as a paramedic completed and is a member of the volunteer fire department where they live Andon .
