The SG Stadtwerke München is an amalgamation of several Munich swimming clubs to form a training and starting community .
With effect from September 1, 2007, several Munich swimming clubs have joined forces to form a training and starting community . The women's swimming club Munich , the men's swimming club Munich, the free water sports club Munich and the swimming club Munich 1899 and the first Munich swimming club (retired on December 31, 2011) are now part of the newly founded swimming club SG Stadtwerke München. Later the VfvS (Association for Popular Swimming) was added as an extraordinary member.
The goals of SG Stadtwerke München are to promote competitive sports in the fields of swimming , water polo , water jumping and synchronized swimming as well as participation in national and international competitions.
The main sponsors of the association are Stadtwerke München .
The women's and men's teams of the SG Stadtwerke München made it to the first Bundesliga from the 2013 season.
Alexandra Wenk is currently the most successful swimmer and took part in the 2012 Olympic Games.
In 2014, the men's team won the German swimming team championships in the first Bundesliga.
