German short course championships
The German Short Course Championships ( DKBM for short ) are an annual swimming competition on the 25-meter lane, in which a German master is chosen in the men's and women's classes for various swimming disciplines. Titles are awarded in the individual disciplines freestyle, breast, back, butterfly and multi-layer swimming as well as in the team disciplines freestyle relay and multi-layer relay over various courses. They are organized by the German Swimming Association .
Special features short course
Swimming competitions on the short course have some special features compared to the competitions on the long course (50-meter course). The 100 m individual medley competitions can only be held on the short course, as the 4 disciplines (butterfly, back, chest, freestyle swimming) are a 25-meter section and therefore require a 25-meter pool. Since there are significantly more turns per route in the short pool, faster times can be achieved because the push off the wall is faster than the swimming movements. The diving phases are fundamentally important for these competitions.
