Short course world championships

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Short course world championships have been held every two years by the international swimming federation FINA since 1993 . The two-year rhythm was only interrupted from 1999 to 2000 to prevent World Championships on the short and long track from taking place in the same year . The competitions cover all distances between 50 m and 1500 m.

The event is usually held in indoor swimming pools , which is due to the timing (winter or spring) and the short 25 m lane. Over the past few years, athletes have specialized in the short course and take advantage of the shorter lanes through good turns and long diving phases.
