The Short Course World Championships in 2014 in swimming were held from 3 to 7 December 2014 in Doha ( Qatar ) instead and were from the International Swimming Federation FINA organized. It was the 12th edition of the short course world championships. The competitions were held at the Hamad Aquatic Center , which is part of the Aspire Zone sports complex .

Originally, the title fights were awarded to Catania on the Italian island of Sicily . However, the host had to give up the competition for financial reasons, so Doha was chosen as the new venue in 2012.

The most successful swimmers in the title fights were Katinka Hosszú and Chad le Clos . With eight individual medals, Hosszú won more precious metal than any previous swimmer at the World Short Course Championships - the previous record of six podium finishes was shared by Susie O'Neill , Josefin Lillhage , Lisbeth Trickett and Brooke Hanson . Ryan Lochte had also won eight medals at the 2012 competitions in Istanbul, setting a record, but he achieved several of them in relay races. Le Clos won four individual titles and was the first swimmer to win all butterfly titles at a World Short Course Championship. The most successful nation in the medal table was Brazil with 7 gold medals ahead of Hungary and the Netherlands with 6 and 5 titles respectively. The USA team collected the most medals with 17 precious metals. A total of 23 world records (14 in individual and 9 in relay races) and 24 world championship records were swum in the 46 competitions. This clearly surpassed the record of 18 world records at the 2008 Short Course World Championships in Manchester .
