Open water world championships 2004

The 2004 Open Water World Championships took place in Dubai from November 27th to December 2nd, 2004 . Individual competitions for women and men were held over distances of 5, 10 and 25 kilometers.

The 2004 open water world championships were strongly influenced by the German side. Three of the six titles went to German athletes: Britta Kamrau won over 10 and 25 kilometers in the women , and Larissa Iltschenko over 5 kilometers. In the men's category, Thomas Lurz won the 10 kilometer title, Grant Cleland won the 5 kilometer title and Brendal Capell took the 25 kilometer title.
