Christian Hein

Christian Hein (born September 6, 1982 in Würzburg ) is a German swimmer . His specialty disciplines are the long freestyle courses , especially open water swimming , which will be Olympic with the 10 km course from 2008. The industrial engineering student lives in Mainz and starts for the SG EWR Rheinhessen Mainz , whose head coach has been Lothar Schubert since December 2008. Since April 28, 2009 Christian Hein is also President of the SG Rheinhessen Mainz eV

all in all :

  • 7 titles in German championships over 400, 800, 1500 m freestyle, 5 and 10 km open water and 4 × 200 m freestyle relay
  • three times vice world champion (2003 over 5 and 10 km, 2004 over 5 km)
  • two medals at the 2006 European Championships (second over 5 km, third over 10 km)
  • Olympic participant 2004 Athens , best place 10th over 400 m freestyle
