Danas Rapšys (born May 21, 1995 in Panevėžys ) is a Lithuanian swimmer .

Career

He is an Olympic participant (2016), multiple Lithuanian record holder in back, freestyle and butterfly swimming as well as two-time gold medalist at the 2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei ( Taiwan ), where he won a total of three medals, making him the first Lithuanian to have so many medals won a Universiade. In Hangzhou , Danas Rapšys became the 2018 short-course world champion in the 400 meter freestyle (third fastest swimmer behind Yannick Agnel and Paul Biedermann ).

At the 2019 World Championships , the then 24-year-old started over 200 m, hit first, but was disqualified and the title went to the Chinese Sun Yang .

Rapšys is a member of the Žemyna Club in the northern Lithuanian city of Panevėžys and is supervised and trained by Ina Simeliūnaitė.

Rapšys studies sports science at the sports and health faculty of the Lietuvos edukologijos universitetas in Vilnius .
