Mehdy Metella (born July 17, 1992 in Cayenne , French Guiana ) is a French freestyle and butterfly swimmer . He is world champion on both the short and long track with his country's 4 × 100 meter freestyle relay.

successes

At the 2015 World Championships in Kazan , he won the 4 × 100 freestyle together with his teammates Florent Manaudou , Fabien Gilot and Jérémy Stravius in 3: 10.74 minutes ahead of Russia (3: 11.19 minutes) and Italy (3: 12.53 min).

A year earlier at the 2014 Short Course World Championships in Doha with Clément Mignon instead of Stravius, there was gold in the same relay in championship record time (CR) of 3: 03.78, ahead of Russia (3: 04.18 min) and the USA (3:05, 58 min).

At the 2014 European Championships in Berlin , it was also gold in 3: 11.64 min (CR) ahead of Russia (3: 12.67 min) and Italy (3: 12.78 min). In the 4 × 100 meter individual medley relay, the French won silver with Metella in 3: 32.47 behind the British (3: 31.73 in) and ahead of the Hungarians (3: 33.11 min).

The European Short Course Championships in 2012 in Chartres earned Metella three medals: two golds in the 4 × 50 m freestyle and with the 4 × 50 m freestyle mixed relay as well as bronze in the individual competition over the 100 m butterfly in 50.66 s behind Yevgeny Korotyshkin (49.98 s) and Rafael Muñoz Pérez (50.39 s).
