Alia Shanee Atkinson (born December 11, 1988 ) is a Jamaican swimmer and Olympian. Her most successful year so far was 2006, when she secured four gold and one silver medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Cartagena, Colombia . She was at the Olympic Summer Games in Athens in 2004 and in Beijing in 2008 in Jamaica's squad, but could not achieve any top placements there.

At the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro , Alia Atkinson was chosen as the flag bearer for her home country at the respective opening ceremonies. She qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics . There she reached the finals over 100 meters chest and is thus the first Jamaican woman to make it into an Olympic swimming final. She finished the race in fourth place.

After Alia Atkinson had already participated in the Commonwealth Games in 2006 and 2010 , she made it onto the podium for the first time at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow . She won silver over 50 meters breast and bronze over 100 meters breast. In the run-up to the competition, she had already set a new competition record over 50 meters chest twice, first in the run-up with 30.49 seconds, then in the semifinals with 30.17 seconds.
