Conor Dwyer (born January 10, 1989 in Evanston , Illinois ) is an American swimmer . He took part in the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics, in both of which he was Olympic champion with the 4 x 200 m freestyle relay.

Career

In 2011 Dwyer first took part in the World Swimming Championships , where he won a gold medal with the 4 x 200 m freestyle relay by participating in the prelim. At the 2012 Olympic Summer Games, Dwyer competed with Ryan Lochte , Ricky Berens and Michael Phelps in the final of the 4 x 200 m freestyle and became Olympic champion.

At the 2016 Summer Olympics, Dwyer repeated his Olympic victory, this time with Lochte, Phelps and Townley Haas . He also won the bronze medal in the 200 m freestyle .

In October 2019, Dwyer retired as a professional swimmer after being convicted of a doping offense by the United States Anti-Doping Agency and banned for 20 months with retroactive effect from December 2018.
