Stephen Karl Rerych (born May 14, 1946 in Philadelphia ) is a former American swimmer and two-time Olympic champion.
He entered the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City and was able to win two gold medals with the US swimming relay team. He had to give up the individual competition in the 200 m freestyle without a fight due to illness.
Rerych graduated from North Carolina State University and won an AAU title over 100 yards freestyle in 1966 . He was also a pitcher for the NC State baseball team. He later attended Columbia Medical School and received his medical degree in 1974. He was a long-time surgeon in Asheville , North Carolina , and now lives in West Virginia .
