Chantelle Newbery (* 6. May 1977 in Melbourne as Chantelle Michell ) is a former Australian water jumper . She won the Olympic gold medal in diving in 2004.

Her first international appearance was at the 1998 World Swimming Championships in Perth . As a local hero, she won the bronze medal from the 3 meter board, one of two medals in diving for the Australian team. The 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney were also held in their homeland. Together with Loudy Tourky , she took fourth place in synchronized jumping from the 3 m board. In the individual competition from the board she was seventh.

After the Olympic Games, she married her teammate Robert Newbery , and in 2002 their first son was born. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , Chantelle Newbery was there again. In synchronized jumping from the board, she won the bronze medal together with Irina Laschko . She achieved a sensation in high diving by winning the gold medal; it was the only individual gold medal that did not go to the Chinese team in 2004. At the 2005 World Swimming Championships in Montreal, she won silver with Loudy Tourky in synchronized diving from the tower. In the individual competition she was seventh from the tower. In 2006, after the 1998 World Cup and the 2000 Olympic Games, the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne were followed by important championships in their home country. Together with Tourky, she won synchronized jumping from the tower. In the individual competition from the tower she won silver behind Tourky, from the 3 m board she was defeated by the Canadian Blythe Hartley and won another silver medal.

After the Commonwealth Games, Chantelle Newbery took a break from competition, and in late 2006 her second son was born. In 2008 she made her international comeback at the pre-Olympic World Cup in Beijing , where she took seventh place on the 3 m board. At the 2008 Olympic Games , she and Robert Newbery are in the Australian squad for the third time, and for the second time as a married couple. There she took 14th place on the 3 m board.

After the 2008 Games, she finally ended her active career.
