Dorothy Poynton
Dorothy Poynton (born July 17, 1915 in Salt Lake City , † May 18, 1995 in Riverside ) was an American diver . She won two gold medals at the Summer Olympics .
Career
Dorothy Poynton took part in the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam at the age of 14 and won the silver medal from the three-meter board; making her the youngest ever medalist for the United States. Four years later, at the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles , she won the gold medal from the ten-meter tower. Poynton was able to repeat this success at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin , where she also won bronze from the three-meter board.
Poynton took part in various commercials and after the end of her own active career ran her own swimming club called the Dorothy Poynton Aquatic Club in Los Angeles.
