Greta Johansson (born January 9, 1895 in Stockholm , † January 28, 1978 in San Mateo ) was a Swedish diver and swimmer . She took part in the 1912 Summer Olympics and won a gold medal.

Career

Greta Johansson started for the club Stockholms Kappsimningsklubb . At the age of 17 she took part in the 1912 Summer Olympics in her hometown Stockholm. She started the competition from the diving platform and won the gold medal in front of her compatriot Lisa Regnell and the British Isabelle White . This made Greta Johansson the first female Olympic champion in diving in Olympic history. She also started in two swimming competitions . In the 100-meter freestyle, Johansson did not reach the final as fourth in the preliminary run. With the 100-meter freestyle relay, she just missed her second Olympic medal in fourth.

Johansson married Ernst Brandsten , who also started diving at the Olympics.
