Robert Frederick Newbery (born January 2, 1979 in Adelaide ) is a former Australian water diver . He started in art and tower diving as well as in 3 m and 10 m synchronized jumping. He won three medals at the Olympic Games and was also a world champion.

Newbery took part in three Olympic Games . In 2000 in Sydney he was 15th on the 3-meter board, tenth on the 10-m tower, fifth with Mathew Helm in the 10-meter synchronized jumping and he won bronze with Dean Pullar in the 3-meter synchronized jumping. In 2004 in Athens he again took part in all four possible competitions. He reached twelfth place on the 3-meter board and eighth place on the 10-meter tower. He also won bronze in both synchronized competitions, 3 m with Steven Barnett and 10 m with Mathew Helm. In 2008 in Beijing , Newbery finished ninth on the 3-meter board. He started again in both synchronized competitions and reached eighth place with Scott Robertson on the 3-meter board and fourth with a helmet on the 10-m tower.

At the 2003 World Cup in Barcelona , Newbery also won a title. He won the 10 m synchronized jumping with a helmet. In total, he took part in four world championships. His best individual result was a fifth place on the 3-meter board in 2001 in Fukuoka .

He was also able to win six medals at the Commonwealth Games , including a gold medal.

Robert Newbery ended his active career after the 2008 Olympic Games. He is married to Chantelle Newbery , who was also a successful water diver who became Olympic champion in diving in Athens in 2004.
