Steven John Barnett (born June 15, 1979 in Sydney ) is a former Australian water diver . He started in artificial jumping from the 1 m and 3 m board and in 3 m synchronized jumping. He won a bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics.

Barnett started diving at the age of four. He initially started for the Barnett Divers association founded by his parents . His parents were also successful water divers , his mother Medeleine Barnett participated in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal . At the age of 20, Steven Barnett then moved to the training center in Brisbane.

Barnett won his first international medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester . He won bronze from the 1 meter board. With Robert Newbery he reached seventh place at the World Cup in Barcelona the following year . In 2004 he took part in the Olympic Games in Athens . From the 3 m board he was 16th in the semifinals, in the 3 m synchronized jumping he won the bronze medal together with Newbery. His fourth place with Newbery at the 2007 World Cup in Melbourne was his best result at a World Cup. Barnett won three more bronze medals at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. He was third on the 1 m and 3 m board as well as with Newbery in the 3 m synchronized jumping.

In 2007 Barnett ended his active career.
