Olivais is a municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Lisbon . 33,788 inhabitants live in it (as of June 30, 2011).
The freguesia was founded on May 6, 1397 by the then Archbishop of Lisbon and was founded by Pope Boniface IX. confirmed on July 1, 1400. As part of the municipal reform in Portugal, the Parque das Nações area was separated on September 29, 2013 and made a freguesia of its own. At the same time, the Freguesia changed its name from Santa Maria dos Olivais to Olivais .
