James McLane

James McLane (born September 13, 1930 in Pittsburgh ) is a former American swimmer .

Overall, he was Olympic champion three times in his career . At the age of 17, he won at the 1948 Olympic Games in London the gold medal in the 1500m freestyle and the 4 x 200 m freestyle relay . He also took silver in the 400 m freestyle. Four years later at the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 he was again Olympic champion with the 4 × 200 m relay.
