Andrew Charlton
Andrew Murray "Boy" Charlton (born August 12, 1907 in Crows Nest , † December 10, 1975 in Avalon , New South Wales ) was an Australian swimmer .
He took part in three Summer Olympic Games between 1924 and 1932. He became Olympic champion in the 1500 m freestyle at the Olympic Games in 1924 , won silver with the Australian 4 × 200 m freestyle relay and bronze in the 400 m freestyle. After the Olympic Games in 1928 , where he again won the silver medal in the 400 m and 1500 m freestyle, he announced his retirement from swimming. In 1932 he still returned to the pool, but was unable to make it to the finals at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles because of being overweight and weakened by flu.
In 1972 he was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .
