Coordinates: 33 ° 50 ′ S , 151 ° 12 ′ E North Sydney Council is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . North Sydney is part of the metropolis of Sydney , the capital of New South Wales. The area is 10.5 km² and has about 68,000 inhabitants.
North Sydney is located on the north side of the harbor of Sydney at the north end of the Harbor Bridge , opposite the city center Sydney City . The area includes 26 districts: Balls Head, Berrys Bay, Blues Point, Cammeray, Cremorne North, Cremorne Point, HMAS Platypus, HMAS Waterhen, Kirribilli , Kurraba Point, Lavender Bay, Mater Misericordiae Hospital, McMahons Point, Milsons Point, Neutral Bay, Neutral Bay Junction, North Sydney, North Sydney Shoppingworld, Waverton and parts of Cremorne, Cremorne Junction, Crows Nest, Mosmans Bay, Naremburn, St Leonards and Wollstonecraft. The council's headquarters are in North Sydney, south of the LGA.

Don't miss the Museum at Mary MacKillop Place , Don Bank Museum, Greenwood Plaza Shopping Complex, North Sydney Railway Station, North Sydney Oval, Stanton Library and St Mary's Cathedral. In the Kirribilli district are the Kirribilli House , the residence of the Australian Prime Minister , and the Admiralty House , the residence of the Governor General of Australia, if they are in Sydney. The Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron is also based in Kirribilli .

The North Sydney Council has 13 members who are elected by LGA residents. Three members each come from the four wards Cremorne, Tunks, Victoria and Wollstonecraft, the chairman and mayor (mayor) is also elected by all residents of the LGA. The four electoral districts are determined independently of the districts.
