Stephen Edward Clark (born June 17, 1943 in Oakland , California ) is a retired American swimmer and three-time Olympic champion.

In 1960, when he was still attending Los Altos High School , he took part in the Olympic Games for the first time and swam in the heats for the US swimming relay. He then went to Yale and won five NCAA titles at the college championships . At the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo , he was finally able to win three gold medals with the relay. After Yale, Clark went to Harvard Law School and wrote a book on competitive swimming.

One of Clark's strengths was his extremely quick turns . He was able to set a total of nine world records.

Clark was inducted into the Fort Lauderdale International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1966. In 2005 he donated one of his gold medals to Yale University.
