Michael Troy
Michael Francis "Mike" Troy (born October 3, 1940 in Indianapolis ; † August 3, 2019 ) was an American swimmer .
In his parade position 200 m butterfly he was Olympic champion at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome . He also won the gold medal in the same games with the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay. In his career he was able to set a new world record in the 200 m butterfly five times .
Troy peaked between 1959 and 1960 while training at Indiana University under James Counsilman .
After his career as an athlete, Michael Troy became a swimming coach and an official in the US NOK and the US swimming federation. In 1971 he was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .
