Denis Vladimirovich Pankratow

Denis Wladimirowitsch Pankratow ( Russian Денис Владимирович Панкратов ; born July 4, 1974 in Volgograd ) is a former Russian swimmer .

At the 1996 Summer Olympics he was Olympic champion in both the 100 m and the 200 m butterfly. He already outclassed the competition with his start by being faster than the competition in the whole situation with only footwork in the diving phase. He dived far beyond the current mark of 15 meters.

In 1995 and 1996 he was voted swimmer of the year . In 2004 he was inducted into the hall of fame of international swimming .
