László Cseh [ ˈlaːsloː ʧɛ ] (born December 3, 1985 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian swimmer .

Career

Cseh's particular strength is swimming in individual swimming pools. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 he won the silver medal on all three courses in which he competed (400 m medley, 200 m medley and 200 m butterfly), only beaten by the exceptional US athlete Michael Phelps .

He had already won the bronze medal in the 400 m medley at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . Another success over this route is the silver medal at the 2003 World Championships in Barcelona . At the 2005 World Championships in Montreal , he first won the bronze medal over 100 m backstroke, then the silver medal over 200 m medley and became world champion over 400 m medley on the last day of the competition. At the European Championships in Budapest in 2006 , Cseh won gold in the 200 m medley and set a new "Championship Record" in 1: 58.17 minutes. He also clearly won over 400 m individual medley. He won the silver medal over 200 m back.

At the 2007 European Short Course Championships in Debrecen , Hungary , Cseh was the outstanding athlete in front of a home crowd. Not only did he set a world record in the 200 meter medley (1: 52.99 min), he was also the first swimmer to stay below the four-minute mark over twice the distance in 3: 59.33 min.
