Martín López-Zubero

Martín López-Zubero Purcell (born April 23, 1969 in Jacksonville , Florida ) is a former Spanish swimmer who grew up in the United States .

Swimming was the sport in his family. His brother David and his sister Julie were also successful swimmers and competed in the Olympic Games . David won a bronze medal at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow .

During his career, Martín López-Zubero took part in three Olympic Games and won the gold medal over 200 m back at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona . He was also world champion over 200 m back at the world championships in 1991 and 1994 . He was also very successful at the European Championships and was able to win five titles.

In 2004 he was inducted into the hall of fame of international swimming .
