Lenny Krayzelburg
Lenny Krayzelburg (born September 28, 1975 in Odessa , Ukraine ) is a successful American swimmer and four-time Olympic champion.
Career
Lenny Krayzelburg was born Leonid Krayzelburg (Russian: Леонид Крайзельбург) in Odessa (then the Soviet Union, now Ukraine) and emigrated to Los Angeles in 1989 with his Jewish parents.
At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he won three gold medals:
- over 100 m back in 53.72 s ( OR )
- over 200 m back in 1: 56.76 min ( OR )
- in the 4 × 100 m individual medley in 3: 33.73 min (WR) with Ed Moses , Ian Crocker , Gary Hall junior
At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens , he reached 4th place over 100 m back in 54.38 s.
- in the 4 × 100 m individual relay he received another gold medal (start in advance)
He also won 2 × gold and 1 × silver at the World Championships in Perth (1998), 1 × gold and 1 × silver at the World Championships in Athens (2000), and 3 × gold at the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Fukuoka (1997) and 3 × gold at the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Sydney (1999). At the 2001 Maccabiade in Israel, he won gold in the 100 m back and 4 × 100 m medley.
1997-2000 he was voted American Swimmer of the Year .
