Mark Tewksbury (born February 7, 1968 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a retired Canadian swimmer .

He won the silver medal at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul with the Canadian 4- × 100-m individual medley . Four years later he was able to win a bronze medal with the individual relay at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona . However, he celebrated his greatest success in the 100 m back when he became Olympic champion in 1992 . In 2000 he was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .

Mark Tewksbury outed himself in 1998 as gay and is one of the few former top athletes who open about their homosexuality are. He is a board member of the Gay and Lesbian Athletics Foundation .

On August 5, 2010, he was named representative of the Canadian team for the 2012 Summer Olympics.
