Walter Brack

Walter Brack (born December 20, 1880 in Berlin ; † October 20, 1919 there ) was a German swimmer .

At the 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis , he was Olympic champion over 100 yards in the backstroke . There were no heats in this competition and the pool was 100 yards long so there was no need to turn in this race . As a further specialty, only US and German swimmers took part on this route. Over 440 yards chest he won the silver medal in these games. At the German swimming championships in 1903 and 1904 , he was twice in a row German champion over 100 m back for his club Charlottenburg 87 .

In 1997 he was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .
