Brignoles is a French city with 17,179 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Var in the region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur . Brignoles is a sub-prefecture (French sous-préfecture ) of the Var department, the administrative seat of the Arrondissement Brignoles and the capital of the canton of Brignoles .

Town twinning
Brignoles has been in a ring partnership with the cities of Groß-Gerau in Hesse , Bruneck in South Tyrol and Tielt in West Flanders ( Belgium ) since 1959, to which the Polish Szamotuły ( Samter ) in the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship has also been a member since 1997 .
