Carcès ( Provencal Carces ) is a French municipality with 3447 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Var department in the region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur .

geography

Carcès is located in the center of the department at the confluence of the Argens and Caramy rivers . The place is known for its lake. The Lac de la Fontaine d'Ajonc , also known as the Lake of Carcès , is a reservoir created in 1936, which is fed by the Caramy shortly before it flows into the Argens. With a bank length of 8 kilometers, it extends over more than 100 hectares.

Attractions

The 11th century Romanesque chapel Notre-Dame-de-Carami is classified as a Monument Historique .
