Saint-Zacharie is a French commune in the Var department in the region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur . It belongs to the canton of Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer in the Arrondissement of Brignoles .
geography
Saint-Zacharie lies at the foot of the Massif de la Sainte-Baume . The place emerged from the union of the three villages Orgnon , located on the hill in the direction of the Massif de la Sainte-Baume, Canorgue , on the slope of Saint-Clair , and Rastoin , from which the present center emerged. It is on the banks of the Huveaune River , into which several side streams flow.
history
The settlement history of the villages goes back to ancient times. Archaeological findings confirm the settlement in the Celtic-Ligurian and Roman times.
population
Saint-Zacharie has 5604 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) and is one of the larger municipalities in the Var department. In 1962 there were 1358 residents, in the 1960s and 70s the population rose only slowly. In 1975 Saint-Zacharie had 1,532 inhabitants. After that, a marked growth was recorded, which continues to this day.

Attractions
The Saint-Jean-Baptiste church from the 16th / 17th centuries Century has been registered as a monument historique since 1988 . The place is not least known for its fountains distributed over the entire local area and the many publicly accessible, shady and rural small parks. The Moulin Blanc park was established in 1850 by the landscape architect Drée for the Saporta family.
