geography

Puget-Ville lies in the middle between Toulon , Hyères , Le Luc and Brignoles in a wide plain , which is bordered by 400-500 m high hills as if by a wall. The valley is well watered by the Réal-Martin , its tributaries and numerous watercourses.

history

Puget is first mentioned in 1060. In the sources it appears as Poieturn , Pugetum , Puech , Puechet . The name goes back to Latin podietum or Celtic puechet , which means small hill . Over the years the name has seen numerous variations: Castrum de Pugeto , Puget Ténois , Puget lez Toulon , Puget Près Cuers and finally Puget-Ville . The place belonged successively to the rule of the families of Albanis, Glandevès and Faucon.

The community used to consist of eleven hamlets. Ville was the main town built around the castle of the Albanis and the church of Sainte-Marie de Dei Cesa . Over time, the inhabitants of the villages of Ville, Ferrières, Mas-de-Blanc and Caudière left their settlements and moved to Crottes, the place around the church of Saint-Sidoine .
