Magnus Carlsson (* 24. June 1974 in Borås ) is a Swedish Dansband - and pop - singer .

biography

Magnus Carlsson grew up with two brothers in Fristad , outside Borås. He studied music for six years, four of which at the University of Gothenburg's music academy . He became known as the singer of the Swedish dance band Barbados , of which he was a member from 1991 to 2002. On December 13, 2002 he became a member of the pop group Alcazar . The group made their European breakthrough in 2002 with the hit single Crying at the Discotheque . Carlsson is openly gay and at times maintained a relationship with Andreas Lundstedt . Carlsson lives in Stockholm with his husband Mats .

Eurovision Song Contest

Carlsson participated in the years 2000-2003, 2005-2007 and 2015 in the Melodifestivalen , the Swedish pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest . The first three times he took part with the band Barbados. In 2003 and 2005 he took part as a member of Alcazar and took third place with Not a sinner, not a saint (2003) and Alcastar (2005). On February 25, 2006 he performed as a solo artist with the song Lev livet! which was written by Anders Glenmark and Niklas Strömstedt and which reached number 1 on the Swedish sales charts. In 2007 he entered the third preliminary round of the Melodifestivalen on February 17th with the title Live Forever written by Danne Atlerud , Thomas Törnholm and Michael Claus , but could not reach the final. In 2015, the singer applied again with the song Möt mig i Gamla stan, written by Thomas G: son , and reached ninth place in the final.
