Olympic record

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Olympic record (OR) refers to the best performance in objectively measurable sports that are achieved at the Olympic Games .

If it turns out that a record was achieved by improper means ( doping , fraud, etc.), it will be removed from the list of records. The record list is also updated when a piece of sports equipment is changed. So the center of gravity of the spear was changed when throwing the javelin , because there was a risk that the old spear could fly too far. Another example is the decathlon, here the lists of the points distribution for the individual disciplines are regularly changed. The record list was then restarted and the old records lost their validity. If a world record is set during the Olympic Games , it is also considered an Olympic record .
