John Devitt (born February 4, 1937 in Granville ) is a former Australian swimmer .

At the 1956 Olympics in Sydney he won behind John Henricks the silver medal in the 100m freestyle and was with the Australian m 4 x 200 - freestyle relay Olympic champion. At the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 he won gold in the 100 m freestyle and bronze with the relay. In 1979 he was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .
